Who leads EFASS, and who funds it.

Consortium lead: the International Rescue Committee

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) helps people affected by humanitarian crises to survive, recover and rebuild their lives. Founded in 1933, it works in more than 40 countries.

The IRC has led one in five impact evaluations in the humanitarian sector, including 40% of education impact evaluations in crisis and conflict settings, and has delivered £250 million in cash assistance to more than 9 million people since 2019, including in South Sudan. In EFASS, the IRC leads the consortium and is technical lead for cash transfers and for research and learning.

Government partner: the Ministry of General Education and Instruction

MoGEI sets the direction for EFASS. EFASS works through MoGEI's own systems and structures, with specialist staff seconded to the ministry, so that what EFASS strengthens stays with government.

Our donors

EFASS is funded by the UK and Canadian governments.

UK aid

UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) leads the UK government's international development work and delivers UK aid. It was formed in 2020 from the merger of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Department for International Development, which first funded Girls' Education South Sudan in 2013. Through EFASS, the UK continues its long-standing support for girls' education and learning in South Sudan.

Government of Canada

Government of Canada

Canada supports EFASS through Global Affairs Canada, which leads Canada's international development assistance. Canada's Feminist International Assistance Policy puts gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls at the centre of its development work, closely matching EFASS's focus on girls' education and inclusion.
