Outcome 1: Access, retention and progression

Getting children into school and keeping them there. Learner registration, attendance monitoring, cash transfers and community mobilisation that keep children enrolled and moving through school.

Why it matters

Children cannot learn if they are not in school, and a child who enrols but stops attending is easy to lose without anyone noticing. Outcome 1 reduces the costs that keep children at home, builds community support for education, and tracks every learner so that drop-out is visible early.

What we do

Learner registration

Every learner is registered in SSSAMS with one persistent learner identifier that follows them through school.

Attendance monitoring

Daily attendance flows from the class register into SSSAMS, so absence patterns show within weeks, not at the end of the year.

Education-linked cash transfers

Payments for the learners most at risk of dropping out, including girls and children with disabilities. Eligible classes will be confirmed once discussions conclude.

Community mobilisation and radio

Radio, community dialogue and work with parent-teacher associations and school management committees to build support for keeping children in school.

How we track progress

  • Enrolment, including new and transferring learners
  • Attendance rates by school, county, sex and disability
  • Promotion, repetition and drop-out across school years
  • Cash transfer validation, payment and accountability
  • Reach of radio and community mobilisation
